Slater Wins 2008 Billabong Pipeline Masters

It was a battle between two great athletes in the rain soaked final event. Kelly went on to beat Chris Ward for his 6th win at the Billabong Pipeline Masters. This is Kelly’s sixth win of the 11 event 2008 ASP World Tour season. Kelly took the win in style surfing the 8 foot pipe with his trusty 5′11″ Al Merrick further proving hes a freak of nature.

“It’s inexplicable,” Slater said of his win and banner season. “I’m just stoked. I wasn’t even worried about surfing the event, so to surf it and win and get that board (a Gerry Lopez designed surfboard trophy). I’ll cherish that for sure.”
